Book Title Nichoach - Chassidic Melodies

Nye Bayus Ya

Lyrics:

Transliteration of the Russian:

(Russian) Nye ba-yas-ya ni-ka-vo, eey nye vye-ru ni-ka-mu, tol-ka Bo-ga ad-na-mu. Nyet nyet, nye-ba-yus-ya, nye ba-yus-ya, nye ba-yus-ya ni-ka-vo, tol-ka Bo-ga ad-na-vo.

Translation:

I fear no one and believe in no one except the L-rd alone. There is no one besides Him (G-d) the Only One.

Musical Notes

It is an ancient practice for Chassidim to sing their tunes in the vernacular of their milieu, in this case Russian. This song is a courageous and defiant declaration of absolute faith in G-d the Only One, that reflects the confidence of the true believer who has no fear of anything or anyone save his Divine Master above, a state of mind which gives him the strength to keep faith with Torah and Mitzvot through thick and thin. The melody itself fits the content, and it is frequently sung at Chassidic gatherings.

Vocalists
Zalman Levin
